- Online applications for admission to Medical Careers Pathways for the 2025-26 school year are now open: Application for the Medical Careers Pathway forms
- Applications are due by January 6, 2025.
- Students who need an inter or intra-district transfer to attend MCP will be contacted with instructions. Inter District Transfers are required for students who live outside of Novato. Intra District Transfers are needed if a student’s home school is Sinaloa/San Marin High School.
- Candidates with complete applications will have a short interview on January 25 – this is an opportunity for the teacher to get to know students and for students to ask any questions they may have about the MCP program
- MCP placement offers will be emailed to candidates on February 7, 2025.
- Candidates who would like to accept MCP placement are asked to do so by February 14, 2025
ABOUT MEDICAL CAREERS PATHWAYS AT NHS
The mission of the Novato High School Medical Careers Pathways is to prepare students with the academic, social, and professional skills needed to be college and career ready in a medical field of their choosing. Students are introduced to numerous aspects of healthcare careers and topics.
In addition to a rigorous and college-articulated curriculum, students are exposed to a multitude of leadership opportunities that include community networking, job shadowing, student research, field trips, and community service. Medical professionals provide students with first-hand knowledge and instruction as guest teachers in the classroom.
The medical field continues to be one of the fastest growing industries in the 21st century. Successful candidates who apply to post secondary programs are well prepared with study and practice in the sciences, math, and the humanities as well as internship experiences.
These factors led Novato High School to design and implement the innovative Medical Careers Pathways program in 2017. With openings for 34 new students each school year, accepted students have an opportunity to earn both high school and college credit during the four-year progression.
