This summer, many of our school sites have been busy with construction, facilities improvements, and campus preparation projects to ensure our schools are ready for the 2026–27 school year. While most projects are scheduled to be completed before students return, several projects will continue into the fall or winter due to the scope and length of the work. In addition to these larger projects, our Maintenance, Operations, Custodial, Grounds and Transportation teams have been working throughout the summer to prepare our campuses and support a successful start to the new school year.
- Rancho Elementary School
- The roofing project is nearing completion and is scheduled to be completed by August 14.
- Novato High School
- HVAC installation in the three remaining campus buildings is scheduled to be completed before school reopens on August 20. Fire alarm upgrades will continue after hours and are expected to be completed in early January 2027.
- San Marin High School
- Improvements to the Mini Gym are underway and are scheduled for completion in September.
- Loma Verde Elementary School
- Installation of a new mini-pitch is underway as part of the summer campus improvements.
- Shade Structures
- New shade structures at Olive Elementary and Pleasant Valley Elementary are expected to be installed soon, along with associated paving and drainage improvements. The remaining shade structure at Lu Sutton Elementary is scheduled for installation later this year.
- Playgrounds
- Playground surface replacements are planned at Lu Sutton and Olive elementary schools.
- San Ramon Elementary School
- The San Ramon Elementary PTA sponsored a refresh of the school’s blacktop, helping improve the outdoor play and activity areas for students. The results look incredible!
- Kitchen Modernization
- Kitchen modernization projects at Olive and San Ramon elementary schools are progressing and are scheduled for completion in early November. Kitchen projects at Rancho and Lu Sutton elementary schools are currently awaiting Division of the State Architect (DSA) approval, with construction schedules to follow once approvals are received.
- Accessibility Improvements
- A new main entrance ramp and railing are being completed at San Ramon Elementary to improve campus accessibility. Restroom upgrades are also underway at Loma Verde, Hamilton and San Ramon.
- District Office Improvements
- The District Office received a significant exterior transformation this summer. Damaged siding was repaired and the building was repainted through an in-house effort led entirely by Maintenance team member Jim Eyler.
- Campus Preparation
- Grounds maintenance, irrigation repairs, tree work and general campus cleanup are taking place throughout the District to prepare our campuses for the return of students and staff.
- Custodial Work
- Classrooms, offices, restrooms and common areas are receiving deep cleaning and preparation throughout the District.
- Transportation
- School buses and support vehicles are being inspected and prepared for the new school year, while transportation routes are being finalized.
We appreciate the continued patience and support of the Novato community as this important work is completed. We also extend our sincere thanks to our Maintenance, Operations, Custodial, Grounds and Transportation teams for their tremendous efforts throughout the summer to ensure our schools are ready to welcome students and staff back for the 2026–27 school year.
